Moist flourless brownies: the secret
follow me
By: Gian Sibilia
Eggs, milk, chocolate and flour: these are the typical ingredients for moist brownies. But not for me! I gave the classic cake a healthy twist and used a lot of wholesome ingredients. The secret for juicy brownies without flour: almonds, dates and cocoa. So we use ground seeds and nuts instead of flour – they ensure a good binding and the typical taste. Of course, cocoa also belongs in raw food brownies for the chocolate note. We use dates for a natural sweetness and a juicy consistency. To top it all off, there is an irresistible chocolate layer made from peanut butter, agave syrup and cocoa. More is really not possible!

Are flourless brownies healthier?
If you use my recipe, they definitely are. As you have already read above, my flourless brownies are vegan, gluten-free, raw and free of refined sugar. Does that make them taste less good? Under no circumstance! I bet nobody will taste the difference. The great thing about raw brownies: Whether vegan, raw food eater or omnivore, gluten or lactose intolerance: Almost everyone can eat them. Due to the wholesome ingredients, they also provide you with a lot of fiber, minerals and vitamins, so that they keep you full and satisfied for a long time. Flaxseeds contain valuable omega-3 fatty acids, almonds are full of vitamin E, dates provide you with iron and cocoa contains magnesium as well as tryptophan, which promotes the release of endorphins. Cravings or afternoon slump? You can forget! This also makes my flourless brownies the perfect office snack.
Do brownies without flour and sugar have fewer calories?
These no-bake brownies are healthier, but not necessarily lower in calories. However, you should note that white flour and sugar provide you with hardly any micronutrients. Even if you eat a lot of these foods, you won’t feel full until very late because your body is missing something. This leads to overeating and consuming too many calories. Although seeds, nuts and dates also have a relatively high energy density, they are also full of important nutrients. That means you probably only need to eat a small piece of my flourless brownies to satisfy your sweet tooth. In the long run, you’ll be consuming fewer calories. But that shouldn’t necessarily be the priority. Instead of counting calories, I suggest you try this recipe right away and wow everyone!
By the way, without sugar in this case means: Without table sugar. For sweetening we use the natural sweetness from dried fruits. Agave syrup is used for the icing.
