Mochi Ingredients

Whoever thought you needed tons of ingredients for the mochis thinks wrong. We only need 4 ingredients for this delicacy. The filling becomes the fifth ingredient 🙂 There are no limits here. Probably the most important mochi ingredient is the sticky rice flour. You can buy it in the Asia market, order it online or you can mix the flour yourself from dried rice.

Mochi Ingredients


  • 80g sticky rice flour
  • 30g Erythritol
  • 80ml of water
  • 1 tsp Vanille Extrakt (optional)
  • 10g corn starch
  • Vegan Ice Cream

The mochi dough as such tastes rather neutral. If you like it more intense or sweeter, you can add vanilla extract. But my personal opinion. I prefer to use a more intense filling and keep the dough more neutral. Because the consistency is what makes the mochi so special. So be brave with the filling, the mochi ingredients are guaranteed to harmonize with your preference.

Mix all Ingredients for the dough.
Fry until thickened

Mochi Ice Cream

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Mix the flour, water and sugar and optional vanilla together. 

Step 2

Transfer the batter to a pan and stir until the batter becomes thick. 


Step 3

Add cornstarch to your surface and roll out the dough on it. 

Step 4

Use a glas to cut circles and put ice cream in the middle of the circle.

Step 5

Now fold them together. You can moisten your fingertips if the dough is no longer sticky. Afterwards you can roll in cocoa powder or stop by Tante Fine. There are great spices. For this recipe, i used a beetroot coconut spice as you see in the Video.

Thats it. Enjoy your mochis. Store them in the Freezer if you used ice Cream as a filling otherwise i reccomend to store the mochis in the fridge.

  • 80 g rice flour sticky rice flour
  • 30 g erythritol
  • 80 ml water
  • 10 g cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


  • 50 g vegan ice cream


  • Mix the flour, water and sugar and optional vanilla together and place in a pan.
  • Stir until the batter becomes thick.
  • Then we put the dough on a work surface and add the cornstarch.
  • Roll out the dough and cut out circles (6cm).
  • Place the ice cream in the centre of each circles.
  • Now just fold it up and decorate nicely.
